Origin and History

Richer-Kite was a member of the Anthropocene Alliance and therefore coordinated development among several other companies. Richer-Kite developed the Everlife line of transhumans to fill heavy labor roles. The first three versions of Everlife were prototypes, followed by a commercial release that was recalled for gestation issues. The second, sable commercial variant was released to market in 2262 and sold well in the corporate and defense markets.

Biology

 Rickies boast durable skin, bones and limb design. They excel in normal and low gravity. Long, robust limb design means they are very fast on their feet. They are best known for their bold aesthetic and their roar.

An unintended consequence of over-developed neck musculature and redesigned larynx, Rickies can produce a booming and grotesque croaking noise. This guttural noise has featured heavily in fiction and burdens the image of the subspecies to this day.

In an effort to produce viable population rates, some Rickies are born as optales (biological hermaphrodites). This occurs in about 1/10 individuals. Future iterations of the Rickie design were expected to be fully optale.

Unfortunately, due to complicated morphology, Rickies are prone to unique muscle, bone and joint diseases, especially later in life. It is unlikely Richer-Kite could have anticipated these issues.

Culture and Demographics

As with most, the subspecies is most common in the Kuiper Alliance and the outer solar system. They fill all niches of society and aside from a cultural embassy, are not unified by faith or state.
